Dealing with ants at home
Ants appear mainly in spring and summer, searching for food and water. Eliminating a colony requires the active agent to reach the nest — not just killing the ones you see.

Why ants appear
They follow chemical trails to food sources, especially sugars and fats.
They enter through cracks in doors, windows, pipework and joints.
Prevention steps
Clean up food residue and spills immediately.
Store food (especially sweets) in airtight containers.
Seal entry points and keep surfaces dry.
Clean chemical trails with a water-and-vinegar solution.
Why sprays aren't enough
Contact sprays can reduce the ants you see without necessarily dealing with the colony. In some species, inappropriate use of insecticides can cause the colony to spread to more nests.
Targeted treatment with baits
Suitable insecticidal baits attract worker ants, which can carry the active substance back to the colony. With the right choice of product and correct application, the population declines gradually and, depending on the species and conditions, the colony can be eliminated.
For outdoor or extensive infestations a targeted programme is applied at the activity points.
